The Prospect Park Miniature Railway is located at the South Eastern corner of Prospect Park, Reading. It is open to the public on the afternoon of the first Sunday in each month from 12:00 to 15:30. A modest fare is charged to support the maintenance of the track and provision of amenities: a discount is available for the purchase of 10 tickets. The next public running day is Sunday 5th May 2024.
There are two tracks. The ground level track has 5 inch and 7.25 inch gauge rails, and is a single circular track with two platform faces in the station. The raised level track offers 5 inch, 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch gauge rails, and is “kidney” shaped, although there are current plans to extend this raised track to provide nearly double the run.
The Prospect Park Miniature Railway is owned and run by the Reading Society of Model Engineers.
